Questions You May Have

Your fertility questions, answered

Clear and reliable information to help you move forward with confidence.

01

Why didn’t I get pregnant this month?

Not getting pregnant in one month is completely normal and does not necessarily mean there is a fertility problem. Conception depends on several factors, including ovulation timing, age, hormonal balance, egg quality, sperm health and overall well-being. Even healthy couples may take several months to conceive. Tracking your fertile window and having regular intercourse around ovulation may improve your chances. Consider consulting a fertility specialist if you have been trying for 12 months, or for 6 months if you are 35 or older.

Is Gen Z having less babies?

Yes, many Gen Z adults are delaying parenthood and planning smaller families than previous generations. Rising living costs, expensive housing, job uncertainty, career goals and childcare expenses can make starting a family difficult. However, this does not mean that Gen Z does not want children. Many young adults still hope to become parents but may have fewer children or have them later because they do not feel financially or emotionally prepared.

Is India’s fertility rate going down?

Yes, India’s fertility rate is steadily declining and is now below the replacement level of approximately 2.1 children per woman. The decline is linked to better education, improved family planning, later marriages, urbanisation, rising living costs and a growing preference for smaller families. India’s fertility rate fell from about 2.9 in 2005 to 2.0 in 2020, while recent UN estimates place it at around 1.9. However, fertility levels continue to vary significantly across different states and communities.

Why is India emerging as a fertility hub?

India is emerging as a fertility-care hub because it offers experienced specialists, modern IVF laboratories and a wide network of registered ART clinics. Treatment costs are often lower than in many other countries, making care more accessible to Indian and international patients. India’s growing medical-tourism sector, improving healthcare infrastructure and regulated fertility ecosystem also support this growth. Patients should always choose a clinic registered with the National ART and Surrogacy Registry and ask for clear information about costs, risks and age-specific success rates.
